Vajdon Sohaili is a third-year Ph.D. student in Architectural History and Theory at Princeton’s School of Architecture. Previously, he studied Art History at the University of Toronto, where he specialized in the European avant-garde movements of the early-twentieth century, on both sides of the English Channel. His current work focuses on the aftermath of the Second World War, addressing conditions of precarity—social, political, and affective—in architectural discourse and practice, as well as in the representation of architecture in painting, film, and literature. In addition to aesthetic and visual theory, Vajdon’s interests include issues related to subjectivity, psychoanalysis, post-colonialism, phenomenology, and queer and gender studies.
