Marking the centennial of the Soviet Union’s founding in December 1922, this two-day workshop will explore the relationship between national identity and the economy in the Soviet Union. It will bring together scholars whose research engages with these two fields and serve as a platform to exchange ideas on how to combine both issues in a meaningful way. Pre-circulated papers from invited participants will form the basis of discussion. Professor Artemy Kalinovsky will address the workshop in a keynote lecture. In addition, a roundtable discussion of leading scholars in these fields will respond to the panels and conclude the workshop.

The workshop will also coincide with Professor Sarah Cameron’s Davis Center seminar on Friday, October 28.
