Effie Rentzou, professor of French and Italian and director of the Humanities Council’s Program in European Cultural Studies, has been awarded the Sophie and L. Edward Cotsen Faculty Fellowship for 2022-2025. The award recognizes outstanding teachers of undergraduates, principally in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
Established in 1990 by a gift from Lloyd Cotsen ’50, the Fellowship supports development and teaching of new undergraduate courses, or other distinctive contribution to the undergraduate teaching program at the University.
Rentzou studies literature and its relation to other arts, with particular attention to the historical avant-garde movements and modernism. She is a former Behrman Professor in the Humanities, and served as faculty coordinator for the double-credit, year-long sequence “Interdisciplinary Approaches to Western Culture” (HUM 216-219) in 2018-19.
